Counseling has never been just a profession for me—it’s a calling that chose me long before I understood it. I’ll never forget the moment it first surfaced: sitting in my high school commerce class, when my teacher asked, *“What do you want to be?”* Without hesitation, I replied, *“A counselor.”* At the time, I didn’t fully grasp what that meant—only that the words carried a quiet certainty I couldn’t ignore.

Yet when someone I respected warned that psychology might distort my faith and my understanding of people, I hesitated. I took the "safer" path, pursuing commerce instead. But in college, adrift in unspoken emotions and difficult transitions, I found myself longing for something deeper. I discovered the work of Dr. Neil T. Anderson and other thinkers who showed how psychology and faith could work in harmony. Their insights revealed a profound truth: understanding the human psyche doesn't weaken spiritual life—it deepens our capacity for healing.

With renewed clarity, I chose purpose over fear. I pursued a Master’s in Medical Sociology at Loyola College, throwing myself into the work with a focus I’d never felt before. Graduating as a gold medalist wasn’t just an achievement—it was confirmation that I was finally aligned with my path.

My PhD in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work took me even deeper. For years, I listened to women who had survived childhood sexual abuse—their raw, resilient stories reshaping my understanding of pain and strength. They taught me that healing isn’t about fixing brokenness, but about honoring the transformation that comes from being truly seen.

This is why I do what I do. Not just to listen, but to say, with every conversation: I see you. Your story matters. And you don’t have to walk this road alone.
